Current Volunteer Opportunities (Unpaid Positions)
Global Health Volunteer- Costa Rica needed for Less than 1 month
Opportunity Description: Our program is unique in that it offers patient access while gaining direct exposure to the medical systems in the developing world. Our program appeals especially to pre-medical and medical students due to the amount of hands-on clinical exposure we offer. You will work closely with our field staff to address the most pressing health needs of the community, both through clinical treatment and through preventative health campaigns. During the clinical portion of your volunteer mission, you will work alongside the medical staff to provide patient care. Opportunities may include, but are not limited to: -assisting with the intake of patients -shadowing the clinic physician in exams -taking vital statistics of pediatric patients -managing patient files -helping to distribute medication In addition to clinical work, you will be joining our field staff to promote health education in the communities served by the clinics. This aspect of your mission may take you to local schools, soup kitchens, health centers, or even to local homes to perform house calls. Global Health Volunteers generally travel for periods of one week or more. Our program runs from Monday through Friday, with weekends designated as free time to learn about the local culture or take advantage of sightseeing opportunities.
